This is really complicated and took me like 6 hours and 30 or so game boots to figure out. Overlapping with Shift is fine since that is normal behavior. The controller configuration for Big Picture can't overlap with any menu controls that the keyboard uses in-game, so no Enter, Esc, F_, etc. The other 4 inputs are for big picture *only*, but they do things in-game (one functions as Enter or A/X, one as Esc or B/Circle, and the other two are Up/Down and Left/Right axes I think) because DJMAX identifies it as a controller first, then a keyboard. I'm not sure if this helps but in order to bind everything onto my controller (not a MIDI device, sorry) I had to get into big picture mode, set up my controller as an input device for steam, go to the game in my library, manage game, then set the onscreen gamepad (which doesn't match my controller at all lots of trial and error) to be the keyboard keys the game is set up for by default.
